An aide to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) described a Monday incident in which the congresswoman and her staff were berated by patrons in a restaurant near Capitol Hill.

Nick Dyer told the Washington Examiner how a woman and her adult son approached Greene and him while they were “working in a quiet corner of the restaurant.” On Monday, the congresswoman tweeted that she was “attacked … by an insane women and screamed at by her adult son.”

“We were working on prep for today’s committee hearings, and after a woman finished dinner, she came over to our table. Introduced herself politely at first and then started berating Marjorie,” Dyer said. “At that point, her 20-year-old son started screaming expletives at the top of his lungs and came closer. I had to get in between him and the table because I had no clue what he’d do. More and more screaming by him while his mother continued to berate Marjorie. Finally, staff came and demanded that they leave. They apologized, moved us to a more private table. Police were not called.”

He added: “This type of thing happens often, but the son was out of control, and the woman wouldn’t leave until staff came. You just never know what could happen.”

Greene brought up the incident in the Republican conference meeting on Tuesday morning, according to sources in the room. In her tweet, she criticized the family for disrespecting the restaurant and for the group’s inability to coexist with people of different political persuasions.

“I was sitting at my table, working with my staff, and never even noticed these people until they turned into demons. People used to respect others, even if they had different views. But not anymore. Our country is gone,” she said.

Greene made waves last week for repeatedly suggesting that the United States should split into two countries in a “national divorce,” dividing into one red country and one blue country.
