The MLB playoffs are in full swing now but we can’t wait for banana ball.
Starting Feb. 8, 2024, the Savannah Bananas will kick off their nationwide 2024 season where they’ll bring in trick pitchers, plop catchers down on bean bags, let umpires dance and even let former MLBers like Johnny Damon, Barry Zito, Jake Peavy, Hunter Pence and Bill “Spaceman” Lee play.
And this time around, they’re playing much bigger venues.
Last season, the Bananas would square off against the Party Animals — they’re sort of the Washington Generals to the Bananas’ Harlem Globetrotters — in minor league parks and novelty stadiums.
In 2024, they’ll take the field at spring training complexes and six major league stadiums including Boston’s Fenway Park on June 8, Washington, D.C.’s Nationals Park on July 13 and Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park on Sept. 21.

Savannah Bananas 2024 schedule
As of now, the Bananas have 84 games scheduled from February through October.
A few notable cities they’ll be swinging into include Jacksonville (March 1-3), Albuquerque (April 20-21), Oklahoma City (May 16-18), Nashville (June 13-15) and Buffalo (July 5-7).
Of course, there will be many, many games at their home Grayson Stadium in Savannah as well.
Other major league parks on their schedule include Cleveland’s Progressive Field on Aug. 10 and Miami’s LoanDepot Park on Oct. 12.

About the Savannah Bananas
After forming in 2016, the “exhibition barnstorming baseball team” made a name for themselves by ditching baseball.
The team now plays banana ball which has quirky rules like foul balls caught by fans count as outs, games cannot exceed two hours in length and batters are allowed to steal first base.
That’s barely scratching the surface of the game’s showmanship.

Savannah Party Animals
As noted above, most games find the Bananas squaring off against the Party Animals.
Also based out of Savannah, the team is evenly matched with the Bananas.
“I think there are some guys that are obvious fits for the Bananas, and some guys that are obvious fits for the Party Animals,” coach Nate Fish told Savannah Now following team tryouts.
“We need the games to be really competitive. We can’t load up one team. It’s not like the (Harlem) Globetrotters and the (Washington Generals). The games aren’t scripted. The games are highly competitive. Anyone can win. We have to take a look at balance to do that.”
