President Joe Biden told reporters Thursday that he has "no regrets" about his handling of classified documents.

"I think you're going to find there's nothing there. I have no regrets," Biden said in his first comments since the Justice Department announced the formation of a special counsel to investigate mishandled classified documents.

Reports first emerged earlier this month that Biden's lawyers in November found a batch of classified documents in his office at his think tank, which is housed by the Chinese-funded University of Pennsylvania. More batches were discovered last week at his Delaware home, where Hunter Biden lived in 2018 and 2019, the Washington Free Beacon reported.

Documents were discovered in a storage area and garage, which Hunter presumably accessed to use his father's Corvette, as the Free Beacon found.

"We found a handful of documents that were filed in the wrong place. We immediately turned them over to the Archives and the Justice Department," Biden said Thursday. "We're fully cooperating and looking forward to getting this resolved quickly."

While the White House claims no visitor logs exist for the Delaware home, the Secret Service said Thursday that it has records and is ready to release them.

The scandal comes months after an FBI raid found classified documents at former president Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate.
