Biden’s immigration disaster has major border cities on brink of collapse; food supply may be at risk

President Joe Biden’s sanitized photo-op trip to the southern border further emphasized his flagrant disregard for the crisis he has exacerbated and, with their city strained to the point of ruin, some residents are warning if a change isn’t made the entire nation’s food supply is at risk.

Record numbers of illegal aliens continue to enter the United States on a daily basis, amounting to nearly five million since Biden was inaugurated. Now cities like Yuma, Arizona are at the breaking point as 500 excess crossings a day threaten to be the last straw to wiping out their resources.

Speaking with Fox News Digital, Yuma County Supervisor Jonathan Lines stated plainly, “Policies need to be changed when you see an unprecedented amount of people coming across the border that even supersedes what we saw under any of the other presidents for the past 30 years.”

“And now we’re looking at a 171 percent increase this year, this time, over last year. That’s ridiculous,” he exclaimed. “And they’re coming because they said that Biden told them to come, that we have an open border.”

In September, a look at Yuma found from July 2021 to July 2022 there had been a 400 percent increase in crossings and the city with a population of 100,000 had doled out $20 million in medical services for the roughly 250,000 illegals that had come through at Biden’s invite. The crime being wrought by these influxes had caused many residing in border towns like Eagle Pass, Texas to arm themselves and close up their businesses early.

“People have had a hard time getting into the hospital because the hospital has been so full of illegal immigrants,” fifth-generation farmer Hank Auza told the outlet.

As he described, the processing centers have the capacity to handle 800 illegals per day, but around 1,300 have been showing up. At 500 over capacity, Border Patrol, which has already relocated those monitoring points of entry to processing centers, have no choice but to let the illegals in unbidden.

“Yuma can’t support that…It will overwhelm the system here,” Auza contended and expressed that what “we’re foreseeing right now is there’s a couple of big waves coming.”

Lines went on to explain the danger to food security, not only as their food banks had been wiped out, but, as he outlined, during the winter months 93 percent of leafy greens for the country are supplied by fields in Yuma. However, farmer Alex Muller, president of Pasquinelli Produce Company, explained that with illegals traipsing through those crops, there was no telling what damages might be incurred.

“Our fields are monitored and audited and tested for different pathogens,” he said. “You can’t have people walking through the field.”

The consensus was that “It will only get worse with Biden’s policies. He needs to reassess,” according to Lines,  the supervisor who has continued to invite leaders including the president to come and see the specific challenges for themselves. Thus far Biden has only announced a plan to expand Title 42 expulsions to target illegals coming from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela.

“Act like it’s important,” Muller suggested bluntly.
