Elton John joins rash of liberals leaving Twitter as Elon Musk challenges his reasons

Iconic musician Elton John joined the ranks of narrative peddlers with a virtue-signaling departure from Twitter Friday, citing “unchecked” but unspecified “misinformation” that prompted some direct responses from owner Elon Musk.

As Musk endeavored to complete his acquisition of the social media platform throughout 2022, there were many who claimed that the deal would mark the end of their engagement on Twitter. Since the billionaire completed the purchase and set about righting the wrongs of suppression and censorship, some have actually followed through and others, who had remained mum, have proceeded to march in time with the progressive pipers longing for their echo chamber.

Friday, Elton John marked himself among those ranks when he posted an apparent farewell message from Twitter that read, “All my life I’ve tried to use music to bring people together. Yet it saddens me to see how misinformation is now being used to divide our world. I’ve decided to no longer use Twitter, given their recent change in policy which will allow misinformation to flourish unchecked.”

Coming as little surprise, Twitter users had a lot to say about the move and were chiefly critical of the musician’s blanket remark about misinformation (though some were surprised to learn that he was on the platform in the first place).

As such, Musk, who has seemingly taken every opportunity available to him to garner feedback and improve the experience of Twitter, replied inquiring what it was Elton John might have seen to send him away.

The billionaire wrote, “I love your music. Hope you come back. Is there any misinformation in particular that you’re concerned about?”

This sparked a conversation unto itself as user Niche Gamer replied to Musk’s initial reaction, “it’s prob another newly minted marxist social media person w/brain damage that posted this, Elton likely has nothing to do w/what’s posted on here,” prompting the Chief Twit to opine, “It’s true that most celebrities don’t write their own posts. More should. Way better to hear directly from them.”

While that remark prompted some celebrities to take umbrage with the suggestion that they and their colleagues weren’t actually engaging with their fans, others remained focused on the point that Elton John had tried to make.

Protest rocker Five Times August called out his fellow musician and said, “Know what saddens me? Artists like you who kept silent these last few years in the face of world wide tyranny. You had a chance to stand against the establishment like a true rock and roller but instead you joined the regime. Shame on you and every other artist who followed suite (sic).”

While at the time of this posting Elton John had not elaborated on his claim, (not like anyone was expecting him to,) speculation leaned toward the update in Twitter’s policy regarding so-called COVID misinformation since Musk’s takeover that was allowing more open discussion of the virus as well as the vaccine and adverse reactions to it.

Five Times August continued with a post about Elton John promoting the vaccine despite later testing positive for COVID.

Others critiqued the use of the term “misinformation” as details from “The Twitter Files” regarding the censorship of medical experts like Dr. Jay Bhattacharya had been made public.
