LeBron James attempting to trademark Laura Ingraham’s ‘shut up and dribble’ quip

NBA superstar and self-styled race philosopher LeBron James has reportedly filed a trademark with the federal government for ownership of the phrase “shut up and dribble” which was used by Fox News host Laura Ingraham to dunk on him for his asinine political takes during the Trump administration.

According to a report by USA Today, a company owned by the Los Angeles Lakers forward submitted paperwork to the United States Trademark and Patent Office seeking to obtain a trademark for the phrase which King James himself once suggested was derogatory and racist.

Uninterrupted, Inc which was co-founded by James and describes itself as an “athlete empowerment brand” filed the request this week, stating that it would be used for “downloadable virtual goods, namely, computer programs featuring footwear, clothing, headwear, eyewear, bags, sports bags, backpacks, sports equipment, art, toys and accessories for use online and in online virtual worlds.”

Ingraham’s now famous remark came in 2018 when she responded to a video of James and fellow NBA star Kevin Durant sitting in the backseat of an Uber ride where they discussed racial issues in America and trashed Trump with the surly apologist for communist China saying that the sitting POTUS “don’t give a f**k about the people,” in another of the nasty and inarticulate diatribes that have come to define the 37-year-old billionaire as his prowess on the hardwood.

Describing James’ R-rated rant as “barely intelligible” and “ungrammatical,” Ingraham said that “It’s always unwise to seek political advice from someone who gets paid $100 million a year to bounce a ball,” she said.

“Oh LeBron and Kevin, you’re great players but no one voted for you, millions elected Trump to be their coach, “she added, “so keep the political commentary to yourself or as someone once said, shut up and dribble.”

King James, like others who were engulfed in the racial passions of the violent riots that erupted after the viral video of George Floyd’s unfortunate encounter with Minneapolis Police that kicked off the 2020 “summer of love” resurfaced Ingraham’s remarks when he threw down the race card on Twitter.

“If you still haven’t figured out why the protesting is going on. Why we’re acting as we are is because we are simply F-N tired of this treatment right here! Can we break it down for you any simpler than this right here???? 🤦🏾‍♂️. And to my people don’t worry I won’t stop until I see,” James wrote.

But James, who is now a billionaire sees the opportunity to profit from the phrase and plans to do so with the trademark filing.

Black-themed website The Root has some suggestions for how James could best put the phrase to work, “The low hanging fruit could be a line of apparel featuring the phrase next to pictures of various Fox personalities. Tucker Carlson’s unceasing I’m-dumb-and-punchable face? Shut up and dribble. Jeanine Pirro’s timeless did -somebody-fart-while-I-was-ranting mug? Shut up and dribble. You could buy the same fit for your metaverse avatar so people in the real world and the virtual one know not to come for you.”

James was recently in the news for suggesting that all Boston sports fans are racists despite his part-ownership of the MLB Red Sox.

“They racist as f**k” he said during last week’s edition of his HBO show “The Shop” where he claimed that the team Boston Celtics merchandise shop was selling t-shirts that said “f**k LBJ” which the team has denied.
