McCarthy vows to ‘slowly roll out’ Jan. 6 footage to ‘every’ news agency

While it seems apparent that someone at Fox News put the kibosh on host Tucker Carlson airing more Jan. 6 video footage — the fallout seemingly being a little too hot for the network — House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said on Sunday that the footage gathered by the former House January 6th Select Committee will be released to all news outlets.

Then again, don’t expect these outlets to air much footage that runs counter to the Democratic Party’s “insurrection” narrative.

McCarthy insisted that the American people should be allowed to see all surveillance footage from the Capitol Building that fateful day during an appearance on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.”

The California Republican said “transparency” is the goal as he addressed the backlash over Carlson showing footage while declaring that the Jan. 6 commission lied to Americans. Among the clips aired was that of Jacob Chansley, aka the “‘QAnon Shaman,” being escorted by police throughout the Capitol building — Chansley, a Navy vet, is currently serving a nearly 4-year sentence for his guided tour.

“I didn’t give [Carlson] the tapes, I allowed him to come see them, just like an exclusive with anybody else. My goal here is transparency,” McCarthy told Bartiromo. “We will slowly roll out to every individual news agency [so] they could come see the tapes as well.”

He charged that the Jan. 6 committee “was not honest” with America and spoke about equal justice, referencing the violent Black Lives Matter protests in 2020 following the death of George Floyd.

“Why did I watch cities burn … and nobody arrested there? I think we should have equal justice across this country, and we should have transparency,” McCarthy said. “I think transparency is best and allow the American public to see it all. And we need to have equal justice across this nation.”

“It’s really concerning to me since we’ve taken the majority, the things I have learned the government has done and they’ve withheld information from the American people,” he added. “That will not happen on our watch.”
