Reformed BLM activist slams San Fran reparations as disgusting

A reformed Black Lives Matter activist who now works for PragerU is no fan of San Francisco’s burgeoning plan to bless every black family with millions of dollars in reparations.

Speaking on Fox News’s “The Ingraham Angle” this Wednesday, former BLM activist Xaviaer DuRousseau slammed the plan as just another vehicle by which white liberals can sell “black people their own oppression” for profit.

Listen:

“I think it’s important that first of all, we call this exactly what it is: this is 111 ways to gaslight black Americans into thinking that we need to be dependent on a system of handouts in order to be successful,” he began.

“Black Americans have been indoctrinated with these lies for far too long, and I used to fall for the lies until I took a deep dive into the videos on PragerU.com and realized how easily debunked these fraudulent narratives surrounding systemic racism actually are,” he continued.

Turning her attention specifically to San Francisco’s reparations plan, host Laura Ingraham then asked DuRousseau whether he believes the reparations plan will blow up in the city’s face. He replied that he does believe so.

“Absolutely. This is never going to actually happen. It is so unrealistic to think that the average family in San Francisco is going to be able to pay six hundred thousand dollars extra a piece,” he said, referencing a Hoover Institution finding.

A report published by the think tank in January found that San Francisco’s plan to pay every black adult $5 million in reparations would cost each local household $600,000 a pop in taxpayer funds.

“And you know, when people look at this list of the things that they’re recommending, the most alarming thing for most is the five million dollars going to each black person. But for me as an American, I’m looking at this list, and I see that they’re wanting to sell homes at one dollar to black Americans,” DuRousseau continued.

“As an American and as someone who used to live in the San Francisco Bay Area, it’s disgusting to me that we are more focused on slavery, which ended in 1865, than we’re focused on the veterans who are on the streets of San Francisco homeless and begging for spare change in 2023. That’s where they need to start sending their money,” he added.

This prompted Ingraham to note that “white liberals” never want to spend their own money. The former BLM activist wholeheartedly agreed.

“They never do. If I went up to a white liberal and handed my Venmo account, they wouldn’t send me any money. But they’re the first people to demand reparations because it’s just another level of them virtue signaling,” he said.

“And like you saw in some of those prior clips, people are taking full advantage. They’re selling their books, they’re selling black people their own oppression because it’s profitable to indoctrinate people with victim mentality,” he added.

DuRousseau used to be indoctrinated himself, up until he discovered the words of popular black conservative podcast host Candace Owens:

His remarks on Fox News came hours after the San Francisco Board of Supervisors “voiced enthusiastic support” for an exorbitant reparations plan.

The plan would include “[p]ayments of $5 million to every eligible black adult, the elimination of personal debt and tax burdens, guaranteed annual incomes of at least $97,000 for 250 years and homes in San Francisco for just $1 a family,” according to the Associated Press.

The board likewise slammed those who’d dare oppose the proposal.

“Several supervisors said they were surprised to hear pushback from politically liberal San Franciscans apparently unaware that the legacy of slavery and racist policies continues to keep Black Americans on the bottom rungs of health, education and economic prosperity, and overrepresented in prisons and homeless populations,” the AP reported.

“Those of my constituents who lost their minds about this proposal, it’s not something we’re doing or we would do for other people. It’s something we would do for our future, for everybody’s collective future,” Supervisor Rafael Mandelman reportedly said.

“You have my 100 percent support and commitment to implementing, quite frankly, all 111 of these recommendations. They are all warranted,” Supervisor Hillary Ronen reportedly added.

Interestingly, only one member of the board is black: Shamann Walton, the board president.

And indeed, the reparations idea was reportedly initially his idea.

“If you look at the (draft) report, you’ll see so many examples of how black folks were done wrong here in San Francisco, and all of that can really be traced back to the negative effects of slavery,” he said during Wednesday’s hearing.
