Attorneys for Hunter Biden filed a lawsuit against Delaware repair shop owner John Mac Isaac on Friday alleging invasion of privacy for disseminating the data on Biden’s laptop, the Washington Post (WaPo) reports.

Hunter Biden’s lawsuit is a counter to Mac Isaac’s ongoing defamation lawsuit against Biden filed in 2019. His attorneys are challenging Mac Isaac’s claim that Biden’s laptop and external hard drive became his property when Biden failed to retrieve them within 90 days of leaving the repair shop, per WaPo. “[Hunter] Biden had more than a reasonable expectation of privacy that any data that he created or maintained … would not be accessed, copied, disseminated, or posted on the Internet for others to use against him or his family or for the public to view,” the lawsuit says.

“Contrary to Mac Isaac’s Repair Authorization form, Delaware law provides that tangible personal property is deemed abandoned,” when the owner has failed to”assert or declare property rights to the property for a period of 1 year,” the lawsuit continues. Biden is seeking a jury trial and “compensatory damages” from Mac Isaac.

Mac Isaac later provided a copy of Biden’s laptop data to Rudy Guiliani, who sent it to the New York Post ahead of the 2020 election. The outlet’s reporting on the contents of Biden’s laptop was censored on social media and labeled “Russian information operation” by a group of former intelligence officials.

The Daily Caller News Foundation verified the contents of Biden’s laptop shortly after the New York Post’s reporting was published. Other media outlets have since verified the contents of Biden’s laptop.
