Ten alleged MS-13 gang members indicted on murder charges, Justice Department

Grand jury hands down seven murder charges, one attempted murder, murder conspiracy.

A grand jury in Texas has handed down multiple murder counts against 10 alleged members of the international gang Las Mara Salvatrucha, also known as MS-13, according to the Justice Department.

The department also said the indictment by the jury Wednesday includes charges related to racketeering conspiracy, attempted murder, firearms violations and obstruction of justice.

The charges are related to seven murders, one attempted murder and one murder conspiracy," the department also said.

The charges allegedly date back to 2015, and the alleged murders occurred in Texas and Florida. 

In announcing the charges, Attorney General Merrick Garland called MS-13 "a criminal organization that sows violence, terror and fear in communities across the country."
