Shen Yun Performing Arts graced the stage in Guadalajara, Mexico, on May 7. Audience members caught a glimpse of traditional Chinese culture and said it felt like magic and divinity to them.

It’s magic. I feel that it’s the way the dancers conduct themselves—it’s something that comes from divinity,” said Fernando Salazar Vicentello, a councilor of the Guadalajara City Council.

Seeing the performance gave him many positive feelings.

“It made me feel a lot of freedom, a lot of peace, a lot of tranquility,” said Mr. Vicentello.

“It’s truly captivating—a deep dive into the essence of tradition. It’s a very interesting dialogue that intertwines contemporary events, revealing a remarkable level of artistic mastery and sensitivity. The music is fascinating and the contemporary touch of multimedia makes it quite a complete performance,” said Francisco Talavera Durón, an anthropologist and professor at ITESO.

“Extraordinary. It’s an event that exceeded all my expectations. Excellent dancers, music, choreography, effects. Extraordinary, unique,” said Natalia Paulina de la Torre Sandoval, a psychologist.

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive China’s 5 millennia old civilization and virtues, and showcases these through classical Chinese dance, music, and stories.

“What I take from it, first of all, is knowing the oriental culture more thoroughly and, above all, that they pass on many values to us. Values and, above all, compassion, kindness—which we need a lot of right now,” said Mr. Vicentello.

Mr. Durón feels that what Shen Yun brings is more than just a performance, it’s something important also for the world of today.

“Currently, we inhabit a world marked by rampant dehumanization. It’s very important to strengthen our values, try to talk about current values alongside the values that have been lost, and to rescue those ancestral values, which in this case belong to Chinese culture, but are the heritage of humanity,” he said.

Theatergoers deeply appreciated Shen Yun’s efforts and were mesmerized by the artistry and beauty of the performance.

“It really is a spectacle; I didn’t expect it to be so beautiful. A world-class spectacle,” said Ernesto Morales, the owner of Centro Gourmet Cubalilo.

“I believe words fall short in defining the cocktail of experiences and emotions it evokes,” said Ana Cristina Villegas Vallejo, a psychotherapist.

“The play of colors, movements, the stage … it’s an experience that must definitely be felt,” she added.

Shen Yun tours with 8 companies around the world simultaneously, and brings audiences an all-new program to enjoy every season.
