Anti-vaxxer RFK Jr. to kick off his White House run with support of 14% of Biden voters: Democratic longshot enters the race polling HIGHER than Mike Pence - but is still facing a steep task to challenge Joe

  • Robert F. Kennedy Jr. kicks off his presidential campaign Wednesday with the support of 14 percent of President Joe Biden's voters
  • A USA Today/Suffolk University poll released Wednesday found that just 67 percent of Biden's 2020 supporters would vote for him again
  • Another 5 percent said they'd select Marianne Williamson while 13 percent said they remained undecided

Kennedy's support is surprisingly high for a candidate known predominantly as being one of the country's most prominent anti-vaxxers.

He's also performing better against Biden than some of the top Republican challengers are polling against former President Donald Trump.

For instance, former Vice President Mike Pence - who has yet to formally announce a 2024 run - receives just 4.6 percent support from GOP primary voters in the Real Clear Politics polling average

In the USA Today survey, conducted Saturday through Tuesday, just 67 percent of Biden's 2020 supporters said they would choose him over his current challengers, Kennedy and self-help guru Marianne Williamson.

Kennedy jumps in the race - doing so around lunchtime Wednesday from a ballroom in Boston - ahead of Williamson, who is polling at 5 percent.

Another 13 percent of Biden supporters remain undecided.

'In 2020, Joe Biden received more votes than any other president in U.S. history, yet the poll tells us that those same voters are open to other Democrats to wage a spirited primary,' Suffolk University Political Research Center Director David Paleologos told USA Today.

'Kennedy, although a longshot at this point, starts in double-digits and can't be ignored,' Paleologos added.

The son of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of President John F. Kennedy drew the support of 33 percent of Biden voters who disapproved of the job he was doing as president.

Thirty-five percent of Kennedy's supporters said Biden's policies in the White House have been 'too liberal.'

Kennedy's base within Biden's 2020 supporters came from those who were conservative, younger and without college degrees.

Becuase of his vaccine skepticism, Kennedy has some allies across the political aisle.

Campaign signs at Kennedy's kick-off event in Boston Wednesday read 'Heal the Divide.'

Pollsters spoke with 600 Biden voters and the poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percent.
