Political sanity often comes in the strangest of places. Dave Portnoy, the founder and president of Barstool Sports, has been an unlikely source of wisdom in recent times.

On October 21, 2021, Portnoy called on politicians to renounce the practice of profiting from public office.

Portnoy quote tweeted a previous tweet of his, where he originally tweeted, “If you are an elected official, you and your spouse and children shouldn’t be allowed to own individual stocks period.”

Portnoy then tweeted, “You also shouldn’t be able to profit off your position during or after term. No books, paid speaking gigs, etc. We’d see who truly wants to help and who wants to use political office for personal gain.”
