Two MLB Teams Under Fire for Not Specifically Mentioning LGBTQ Community on ‘Spirit Day’

  • Major League Baseball honored “Spirit Day” on Thursday with every team in the league tweeting out an acknowledgment of the day, which exists for LGBTQ+ awareness, but two teams were roasted on Twitter for apparently omitting the meaning of Spirit Day from their message.
  • In the end, 28 of the 30 teams posted messages that explained the symbolic meaning of the day.
  • The New York Yankees, for example, wrote: “The Yankees organization is proud to join @MLB in celebration of #SpiritDay . Today, and all days, we take a stand against LGBTQ+ bullying.”
