Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo called for a boycott this week of the upcoming winter Olympic games in Beijing, China, in opposition to ongoing human rights abuses in the country.

In a Monday tweet, Pompeo called on President Joe Biden to boycott the Beijing Olympic games. “It is not enough for @POTUS to ‘consider’ boycotting the Beijing Olympics. Participating in the games would reward Xi Jinping & the CCP for their ongoing human rights atrocities. The answer is simple: #BoycottBeijingOlympics.”

On Nov. 18, during a White House visit with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Biden was asked whether he would support the Olympic boycott. Biden replied, “It’s something we’re considering.”
