Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is now revoking the Emergencies Act after days of brutal government ordered police crackdowns to clear out hundreds of demonstrators with the so-called “Canadian Freedom Convoy” that had occupied various parts of the nation for weeks, including the capital and various borders.

Trudeau announced an end to his unprecedented use of the draconian emergency powers at a press conference on Wednesday. A video of the message can be found by clicking here.

“Today, after careful consideration, we’re ready to confirm that the situation is no longer an emergency,” he said. “Therefore, the federal government will be ending the use of the Emergencies Act.”
