Pro-Life Texas Governor Greg Abbott Wins Primary, Will Take on Pro-Abortion Beto O'Rourke

Texas Governor Greg Abbott won the Republican primary for governor last night, setting the pro-life governor up to face abortion activist Beto O’Rourke.
Abbott and former congressman and failed Senate candidate fended off potential runoffs ahead of the November general election, winning their primaries. With 86% of polling locations reporting to the Texas Secretary of State’s office, Abbott had 66.67% of votes — besting multiple challengers. O’Rourke had 91.18% of votes with 86% of the state’s polling locations reporting and facing merely token opposition.
“Texans face a very profound question this election,” Abbott said Tuesday night. “Do we take a left turn that leads to more government and less freedom? Or do we maintain the course that has secured greater freedom, more jobs and safer communities.”
The Democrat plans to use abortion as an issue to attack Abbott, but polling consistently shows a majority of Texas residents are pro-life and support the bill to ban aboritons when an unborn baby’s heartbeat can be detected. Governor Abbott signed the heartbeat bill into law.
