Founder of America’s Frontline Doctors Group Pleads Guilty to Entering Capitol on Jan. 6

Dr. Simone Gold, who founded the controversial group America’s Frontline Doctors and has promoted hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for COVID-19, has pleaded guilty after being indicted for entering the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, according to federal prosecutors.

Gold, 56, was originally being indicted on five counts, but four of those were dropped after Gold reached a plea deal agreement with the Department of Justice. She pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds. She now faces up to six months in jail and a $9,500 fine. Gold was taken into custody on Jan. 18, 2021, and sentencing is scheduled for June 16.

She traveled to Washington, DC with her communication director, John Strand, the day before the protest. As part of her guilty plea, Gold acknowledged she and Strand were near a police officer who was reportedly assaulted and dragged to the ground.
