Consumer Price Index Shows Gas Prices Increased 38.0% in Biden's First Year

The price of gasoline increased 38.0 percent from February 2021 to February 2022, which marked President Joe Biden’s first full year in office, according to the Consumer Price Index numbers released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Gasoline of all types increased by a non-seasonally-adjusted 38.0 percent, according to the CPI numbers, while unleaded regular gasoline increased by 38.7 percent, unleaded midgrade gasoline increased by 35.6 percent, and unleaded premium gasoline increased by 33.3 percent.

At the same time, according to the BLS numbers, the price of fuel oil increased by 43.6 percent.
