Another Congressional Delegation Arrives in Taiwan after Pelosi Visit

A U.S. congressional delegation arrived in Taiwan nearly a week and a half after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s controversial visit invoked the ire of China.
This delegation was made up of Democrat Sen. Ed Markey, Democratic Reps. John Garamendi, Alan Lowenthal, Don Beyer, and Republican Rep. Aumua Amata. The group landed in Taipei on Sunday, greeted by Vice Minister Tah-Rey Yui. Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry announced the arrival on Twitter.
“Vice Minister Yui extended the warmest of welcomes to Taiwan’s longstanding friend Senator Markey & his cross-party delegation comprising Representative Garamendi, Representative Lowenthal, & Representative Amata. We thank the like-minded U.S. lawmakers for the timely visit & unwavering support,” the ministry tweeted.
The delegation is set to meet President Tsai Ing-wen on Monday, Taiwan’s presidential office announced, according to Reuters.
