Lawyers Who Successfully Sued Sandy Hook Gun Manufacturer Prepare to File Similar Lawsuit in Uvalde

The Connecticut-based law firm that successfully sued a gun manufacturer for tens of millions of dollars after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting has laid the groundwork for suing the gun manufacturer that produced the rifle used in the recent shooting in Uvalde, Texas.

According to MSN, Josh Koskoff of the law firm Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder will be representing the father of one of the Uvalde shooting victims, alongside Texas attorneys Mikal Watts and Charla Aldous. Koskoff filed a petition with the gun manufacturer Daniel Defense demanding documents related to the purchase of the rifle used in the shooting by 18-year-old Salvador Ramos.

The petition was filed on behalf of Alfred Garza, whose daughter died in the shooting at Robb Elementary School, alongside 18 other children and two teachers.

“We have to honor her and make sure we do good. From this day forward, I want to live my life for my daughter,” Garza said in an interview. “My purpose for being now is to honor Amerie Jo’s memory. She would want me to do everything I can so this will never happen again to any other child. I have to fight her fight.”

Koskoff had previously filed a similar suit against Remington, the maker of the gun used in the Sandy Hook shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, in which 20-year-old Adam Lanza killed 27 people, 20 of whom were children. In that lawsuit, Koskoff ultimately won $73 million in compensation for nine of the victims’ families.
