A Republican campaign volunteer was brutally beaten by people who said Republicans ‘weren’t allowed’ in their area, Florida GOP Senator Marco Rubio said on Monday morning.

The canvasser was clad in Rubio’s campaign gear and that of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the senator said.

‘Last night one of our canvassers wearing my T-shirt and a Desantis hat was brutally attacked by 4 animals who told him Republicans weren’t allowed in their neighborhood,’ Rubio wrote on Twitter.

‘He suffered internal bleeding, a broken jaw & will need facial reconstructive surgery.’

It’s not immediately clear whether law enforcement is investigating the alleged incident, or what led up to it. DailyMail.com has reached out to Rubio’s campaign and the local police department for more information.
