Kelly Tshibaka and Lisa Murkowski Advance in Alaska Senate Race

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Trump-backed Kelly Tshibaka have advanced to November’s general election after Alaska’s Tuesday primary. The two candidates rose to the top from among 18 challengers in the primary.
The two other slots in the Senate race have not yet been decided. Murkowski drew a Trump-backed challenger after the voting to convict the former president during his second impeachment trial.
Sarah Palin, who also received former President Donald Trump’s endorsement was among the candidates who will advance to the general election in the race for Alaska’s only congressional seat.
This year marks the first time in Alaska that party primaries have been replaced with open primaries in which the top four vote-getters in each race advance to the general election. The general election will also feature ranked voting.
