Kamala Convenes Cabinet Meeting to Discuss 'National Priority': Maternal Health in America

Vice President Kamala Harris convened a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday to discuss what she called a “national priority” — not the economy, the border crisis, war, COVID, or other “top concerns” as identified by Gallup — but maternal health care, which appears nowhere in Gallup’s latest poll.

“I want to thank the members of the Cabinet, the members of our administration, for your extraordinary leadership in so many ways and in particular on this issue — the issue of maternal health in America,” Harris said.

“As you all know, it is something that all communities are deeply impacted by and concerned about. But this is the first time that any administration has at this level convened the Cabinet, the president’s Cabinet, to address this issue as a priority, not only for our administration but as a national priority.”
